Day 1 · Libreville

Arrival in Libreville

At Léon-Mba Airport, a member of our team will be waiting to take you to the Hôtel de la Sablière, just 5 to 10 minutes away. Take time to settle in: dinner at one of the hotel's two restaurants, or a drink on the wide terrace overlooking the Komo estuary.

Day 2 · Libreville → Port-Gentil → Loango

The adventure begins

After an early breakfast, a 35-minute flight takes you to Port-Gentil. The road then heads towards Omboué — 117 km of tarmac across some spectacular bridges, then 50 km of track to reach the park. After registration with the national parks authority, fifteen minutes by boat across the Iguéla lagoon brings you to N'dola in time for lunch.

Day 3 · N'dola

Between lagoon and forest

At the far north-west of the park, N'dola opens onto the vast Iguéla lagoon. Forest buffalo, red-capped mangabeys, yellow-backed duikers: your guide shapes the day around the weather and the animals' movements. In the evening, the catch of the day arrives at the table, and ice clinks in the glasses.

Your camp

N'dola Luxury Tented Camp

Spacious tents with a private terrace, air conditioning and a semi-open bathroom, built in 2022 using local materials and local labour. Restaurant, bar and lounge overlooking the lagoon, Wi-Fi in communal areas.

Days 4–5 · Akaka

Deep in the forest

From the lagoon, the Rembo Ngowe takes you into the heart of the forest, one of the most remote corners of the park. On foot, you may encounter monkeys, sometimes chimpanzees or gorillas, and occasionally a leopard. After dark, out on the river, the torch picks out slender-snouted crocodiles — and sometimes the silhouette of a Pel's fishing owl.

Your camp

Akaka Forest Camp

At the confluence of the Ngowe and Eshiera rivers, safari tents with en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, fans and charging points. Morning coffee and sundowners are taken on the large terrace, looking out over the Akaka plains.

Optional add-on

A gorilla trekking permit in Loango. We are the exclusive point of sale.

Boat

Days 6–7 · Louri

Let yourself be surprised

An hour south of N'dola, Louri borders a 16-km lagoon with the beach just steps away. In the morning it is not uncommon to encounter monkeys, duikers, bushpigs or elephants. Boat, kayak, hiking or 4×4: each day finds its own pace, and night outings reveal the large crocodiles of the lagoon.

Citizen science

At Louri, you can take part in the programme run with the national parks: camera traps, DNA samples, and chimpanzee, gorilla and mangabey monitoring.

Your camp

Louri Wilderness Camp

Canvas tents with a semi-open forest bathroom and a terrace for peaceful mornings. LED lighting, fans and charging points.

Day 8 · Loango → Port-Gentil → Libreville

One last dawn in Loango

One final morning outing with your guide. At midday, the boat and road bring you back to Port-Gentil for the flight to Libreville, where our team will be waiting to take you to the Hôtel de la Sablière.

Chapter III · Days 9 to 11

Pongara

Across the estuary

Pongara Lodge

Days 9–10 · Pongara

Across the estuary to the other side

A morning boat crosses the estuary in 15 to 20 minutes, from the Michel Marine marina to Pointe Denis, then an hour on a forest track brings you to Pongara Lodge. In the dry season, elephant tracks are often spotted along the way, and sometimes chimpanzees too. Here the beaches stretch seemingly without end, the swamps shelter the dwarf crocodile, and after dark, around the lodge, you may sometimes glimpse the golden angwantibo.

4×4 safari, kayaking, beach bikes, or a siesta facing the ocean: the pace is yours to set.

Boat 4×4

Day 11 · Pongara → Libreville

A gentle farewell

One last morning on the beach or a final outing with the guides, lunch, then the journey back to Libreville in the afternoon. Depending on your flight time, a day room can be arranged at la Sablière, and our team will see you all the way to the airport.

4×4 Boat

Optional add-on

A helicopter transfer between Libreville and Pongara, so you can enjoy the lodge right up to the last moment.

Good to know

The order of the Loango camps may change depending on weather conditions and animal movements. Your guide will adapt the programme to show you the very best the park has to offer.
